The business location Germany enjoyed great popularity among foreign investors in 2015. Compared to the previous record year of 2014, the settlements grew in 2015 by around 60 percent to 1,912 projects.
This figure was recently published by the Company for Foreign Trade and Location Marketing Ltd. (GTAI - Germany Trade & Invest). The GTAI is responsible for the marketing of Germany as a business location in an international context. The company is assigned to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. According to GTAI, foreign investments amounted to EUR 6.2 billion and created at least 30,000 new jobs over the past year. The investment projects can be categorized into new settlements, corporate expansions and relocations. "Germany scores with its large market, stable conditions and its good domestic economy." says Achim Hartig, Managing Director of GTAI. In addition, the central location and good infrastructure of Germany are often recognized as important location factors. As in 2014, China is leading the investor ranking with 260 settlement projects in the last year, followed by the US (252), Switzerland (203) and United Kingdom (127). 41 percent of all investments can be attributed to the European Union.
While GTAI promotes the business location Germany as a whole, foreign investors need to analyze which certain town or municipality are suitable for their certain business purpose. On My Business Location (MBL) companies can analyze and compare business locations in Germany. MBL is the first Germany-wide platform where companies can find eligible business location by comparing location factors of registered locations.
